MommaBliss is here to help with Wiggles for a few weeks.  She was cleaning out the freezer and came across some mystery items.

MommaBliss: What’s this?

Me: Shredded yellow squash.

MommaBliss: And this?

Me: Placenta.

MommaBliss: . . .

Why yes, I do have plastic bag full of placenta in my freezer.  Why do you ask?



Feeling Thankful

Here at chez Bliss, we’re postponing Thanksgiving by a few days.  Not because we have nothing to be thankful for, but because we have so much.  As I type this, BabyBliss (who’s been known as Wiggles for so long in utero that it will probably stick) is sleeping on my lap.  We decided to put off the whole turkey dinner thing until a bit later in favor of holding the baby and eating pancakes today.

I went into labor hard and fast on Saturday afternoon.  I kept wondering where all this early labor business that the midwife had talked about was because within a few hours my contractions were just a few minutes apart.  CodeMonkey was so supportive and was my rock through the whole thing.  With his help, not to mention MommaCodeMonkey’s, our awesome midwife’s and her assistant’s, Wiggles was born at home at 4:27 Sunday morning.  He’s 8 pounds, 22 inches, and (in my completely unbiased opininon) quite the cutest baby ever.

 

 



Thirty-Seven

Thirty-seven weeks, oh my!

For those of you playing along at home, that means that we’re technically full term.  We could have a baby any day now.  Or a month from now.  No way to know.  I’d be happy with sooner rather than later though.  Wiggles is big and kicky, I’ve been having a lot of Braxton Hicks contractions, and I’ve been put on modified bed rest for the rest of the pregnancy (nothing too worrisome – just high blood pressure that seems to be better if I take it super easy).  So all in all I’d rather be hanging out holding a baby than be hanging out with loads of free time and yet not able to do anything to get ready for the baby.  Oh well, all in good time, right?



P³OW Granola

Snow day!

Hm, that looks kind of familiar, doesn’t it?

I used my unexpected day off to make granola based on this recipe.

P³OW Granola

  • Peach butter – 1 cup
  • Pecans – 1/2 cup
  • Pepitas – 1/2 cup
  • Oats – 2 cups
  • Walnuts – 1/2 cup
  • And a half teaspoon each of salt, cinnamon, and ginger

Mix everything together, spread evenly on a baking sheet, and bake at 325º for about 35 minutes stirring every 5 to 10 minutes.  Let cool completely before storing in an airtight container.  Yum!
